Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE)
We are committed to supporting the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations and
as a company we operate a “Take Back Scheme” on a like for like basis for watches and clocks.
We have, for a considerable time, operated a specialist disposal system for watch batteries to make sure they are handled safely and correctly and we will continue to do so.
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (WEEE) have been put in place to ensure that products are recycled using best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and high environmental protection.
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean
that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.
The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.
Recycling reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.
If you purchase an item covered by the WEEE Regulations from David Christopher Jewellers, we offer to take back an old item on a
like-for-like basis. Typically this will be for sales of watches and certain clocks. Like-for-Like means a watch in place of a watch, an alarm clock for an alarm clock etc. We then take on the responsibility for recycling your old item.
For items purchased online you can return your old goods for disposal via anyone of our stores (listed on the David Christopher Jewellers Stores page). Where this is not practical please contact us for specific instructions regarding the product you have to return.
